The alternative country and Americana scenes are at the forefront of country music because of trailblazing musicians from the 70s and 80s. The decade was known as the era of unabashed country songwriters. They wrote of emotions and experiences unfilteredly. Among those who rose in the ranks of these quirky and "heart on the sleeve" musicians is Lyle Lovett. An influential troubadour, his music paved the way for the modern alt-country and Americana.

Lyle Lovett is a country legend. He made sure of that from the start. His sophomore album "Pontiac" (1987) is considered among the best of the decade. This album was praised for its analysis of his personality, poetic lyrics, and clever and subtle humor. A fresh sound in the budding alternative country area, this became a formula for other artists that came after. As "Pontiac" brought him attention in alt-country, his next release made him a mainstay of the traditional Texas country. "Lyle Lovett & His Large Band" is a mix of folk and Western swing, which had influences from the music he grew up with. This release made him a rising star.

In the 90s, he hit a home run with albums "Jushua Judges Ruth" and "I Love Everybody." At this point, he is already a country superstar. The albums would then foreshadow his Grammy win for Best Country Album with "The Road to Ensenada" in 1996.

As the 2000s came, he slowed down in making music but was active on tours. He started the decade with a ballad and pop country album "My Baby Don't Tolerate" in 2003. This album bagged a nomination for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. Four more albums came later with "12th of June" as his most recent.

As the summer heat comes up so as a Lyle Lovett tour. He will be trekking starting in June up until September. The concert will be a showcase of his newest released songs from "12th of June."

The summer tour will begin at the Kiva Auditorium on June 22. Fans in Albuquerque, New Mexico, get tickets now for this concert. To do so, click the "Get Tickets" link.
